Come and celebrate Mini's 50th Birthday in style!
Please join us as we celebrate the Mini's 50th Birthday in style at Blaise Castle Estate in Bristol. We previously organised three other Great Western Mini Days in '96, '97 and '99 and raised over £8000 for the Jack & Jill appeal at Frenchay Hospital.
The cost of entry to the event is £6 per adult and £1 per child and the proceeds from this particular show will be donated to 'Southmead Community Association' and also 'St. John Ambulance'.
What's going on...
Gates open at 10:30am to the public and the day will be officially declared open at 11am. From then on, the Great Western Mini Day welcomes the support of local band
'The RiffToads' who will play live throughout the day and 'man the mike' so to speak.
Aside from this, will be trade stalls selling their Mini regalia, auto-jumble for you to peruse and buy your second-hand bits and a few craft stalls too. Dick Lovett MINI will be there with the latest range of MINI and there will be a visit from Bristol's
Star 107.2 FM
Great Western Concours
If you wish to show off your Mini, you may be interested in taking part in our 15-Class
'Great Western Concours' (Show & Shine standard). There will be prizes for first and second in class on the day, to be judged by 'Brunel Mini Club'. There will also be a prize for the best 'non-Concours' Mini at the show to be judged by the visiting public.
There's more...
Budding enthusiasts and Mini owners will be on hand at the individual club stands, should you be interested in joining up while you 're there. They'll hopefully be bringing along a Birthday card for Mini too, as there will be a bit of competition between clubs for the best Birthday card of the day! There will also be a few entertaining team games and some activities to keep the children busy. Do visit the parkland if you get time, as there is so much to see and some lovely scenery too. You can even learn about the legend of Blaise Castle's own giant!
At the end of the day and after the official 'Happy Birthday' (tune up those voices in readiness!), we'll be heading off for a 'cruise' around Bristol's City Centre (approx 45 mins). We'll cross the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, and see the S.S. Great Britain herself, who came into dock in Bristol on the 19th July 1843! All part of the Great Western theme of course. There will be a small fee for the bridge toll which must be paid for in advance at the Northavon Mini Drivers Club Stand in order to obtain your cruise sticker to be able to cross the bridge hassle-free.
*Please note that dogs are welcome on site, as long as they are looked after and cleared up after!
Blaise Castle is a mock castle, set in a beautiful 650 acre parkland. Steeped in over 5000 years of history, it has vast woodlands to explore, a limestone gorge and some romantic scenery. The castle is open only once per month and happens to be open the day of the show between 2-4pm if you would like to view it. (Donation is optional but goes to the Blaise estate). Why not visit the museum too, where you can find out about the legend of the giant that once roamed these woodlands! Enjoy!
